WebJun 11, 2013 · I also changed the tubes to a JJ EL84 and a Tung-Sol 12AX7. That also made a big difference, like day and night. The V5 with the standard tubes going through the Peavey ECS1500 was still kind of dark, but the JJ and Tungsol tubes brightened it right up. My advice: change the tubes and find a cab with a bigger speaker. I have (2) 8 ohm and (2) 16 ohm jacks for speaker outs. First of all, it's probably not a good idea because there will be a mismatch between speaker loads.
